Goodbye Long Locks!

After four and a half years of growing out my hair, I finally decided it was time to chop it off. I said goodbye to 12 inches of locks. But rather than letting the hair hit the ground, swept away and forever forgotten, I decided to donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization that works with the American Cancer Society to make and distribute free wigs to cancer patients.

If you have some luscious locks that you are ready to part with, please consider this. It was such an incredibly easy process that comes at almost no cost to you and hopefully will make a difference in somebody's life.

Cherry Blossoms in Toronto

The Sakura tree in full bloom is quite the sight to behold. They are a sure sign that spring is in full swing in Toronto. They blossom for only a few short days at the end of April/beginning of May. There is something special about such a spectacular display that is so short lived. These trees represent the fragility of life. They are a visual reminder that while life can be so brilliant and beautiful, it is also fleeting.

Just remember to stop and smell the flowers.

ODD FACADES - KENSINGTON MARKET

As a photographer it excites me to visit a new place, or in my case move to a new place. I've recently relocated from Winnipeg to Toronto. Everything around me is a fresh new sight. The sounds, the smells, and all of my surroundings are unfamiliar- and I love it! The other day I was wandering around getting to know the area when I came across Kensington Market. Kensington clearly isn't lacking personality. I decided to shoot some of my favourite store fronts in this colourful neighborhood on my phone. I wasn't sure what I should do with the pictures so turned them into a nice little post card. I might have to print a few of these out and send them back to my friends & family in Manitoba!

Last Week at Global Winnipeg

You never know what you were getting into each week when you work in news, and that was something I just loved about working at Global. To give you an idea of how diverse the weekly shoots were here is a little montage I put together of a few shots from my last 5 days at work. Hanging with polar bears, going to car shows and learning about what goes into being a wine sommelier are a few examples. I'm sad to say goodbye, but excited for new adventures on the horizon.
