TSN Prince of Wales Feature - Brooke Hubbard and One Bad Boy

Brooke Hubbard and One Bad Boy attempt to win the second jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. I had the chance to hang out with Brooke and talk to her about her 2019 Queen's Plate win and what has led her to this moment.

This feature aired on TSN on June 23, 2019. Unfortunately for Brooke and One Bad Boy they took a second place finish. Not bad, but this means there will be no Canadian Triple Crown winner this year.

This may have been one of my favourite features that I’ve had the pleasure of shooting for TSN/Woodbine Entertainment. It was turned around really fast, but I’m happy with how it ended up looking.

This was all shot on the Sony FS7. Love that camera. Enjoy!

2019 Queen's Plate Recap and New Inner Turf Feature

Two features I shot were used back to back on a TSN show that aired on July 10, 2019. I've uploaded the entire segment so you can see how it fit into the show. This programs purpose was to recap the recent Queen’s Plate race, show off the recently added inner turf course at Woodbine and tease the upcoming Prince Of Wales show at Fort Erie.

If you want to skip the preamble here are the time-codes for my features.

Social Media Break

I took a bit of a break from all things online. I haven’t been posted anything on any of my social media platforms since February… but worry not, I am still alive and still getting some shooting in. I’ve been focused on work, travel and fitness. I’ve got a lot of content I should probably share with you. I’ll start with a little project I shot for Woodbine Entertainment Group. It’s a short video I shot to promote the Kentucky Derby Day Party at Woodbine Racetrack. Inspired by those “Tasty” videos that you may have seen on Instagram or Facebook. This dish was created by Michael Mortensen, Executive Chef with Woodbine Entertainment Group. Shot on a Sony FS7 and GoPro Hero5.

2018 Season coming to an end

Just like that, another season has come and gone at Woodbine. It's been a great year for me as an EFP videographer with Woodbine Entertainment. When you're working hard and enjoying what you do, time seems to go by all too fast. It feels like just yesterday we were shooting promotions for The 159th Queen's Plate, and now the action at the track is coming to a close. It's always a good idea to take some time to slow down and think about everything that happened over the last year, so I decided to do just that. I grabbed the slow motion camera (SONY FS7 for those who are curious!) and went out for a day of shooting on the grounds. It was the perfect way to reflect back on the 2018 season.

Cheers to all my friends and colleagues at Woodbine!

Throwback - Begonia - Juniper

The other night I went to see Begonia and Royal Canoe live at a bar here in Toronto. The show was amazing and I definitely recommend giving those bands a listen if you haven't already heard them. After seeing these guys play I remembered a video I shot/edited of Begonia for Fresh FM and Global News a few years back. It was supposed to be a kicker at the end of the Morning Show, but due to breaking news and a miscalculation of time by the producer (live TV, amirite?) approximately only five seconds of the video aired. I mean, this was a pretty quick and dirty production (set up, shoot, ingest at the end of one of my shifts, and then edited at the beginning of my next shift to have it air during the show that morning) but despite it having a fast turn around time it is still a shame to put work into something that never sees the light of day. Well today I'm changing that because I found a cut of it saved deep inside one of my hard drives. Here is Begonia performing Juniper. I hope you enjoy this throwback.

Dachshund Derby

Last week I had a fun time gathering b-roll for the organized chaos that was Woodbine's First Annual Dachshund Derby. How could you not enjoy being swarmed by these speedy little pups? Here is a quick highlight reel of the event!
